On Friday, 13 January 2017, in the afternoon at 16:50, in Lazdijų district municipality, on the Alytus–Seirijai–Lazdijai national road (kilometre 21.40), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a MAN TGX and a Nissan Almera Tino. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the MAN (34 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was snowing, the road surface was icy.
