On Wednesday, 15 February 2017, in the morning at around 6:00, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Salantai–Plateliai–Alsėdžiai regional road (kilometre 4.35), an Opel Frontera B hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.17‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
