On Friday, 17 March 2017, in the afternoon at 13:30, in Kaunas, on Vaidoto street near No. 115, a Volkswagen Transporter registered in Sweden hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 18-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
