On Sunday, 2 April 2017, in the afternoon at 15:58, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 66.45), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo V40 and a Seat Ibiza. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volvo, who committed other traffic rule violations, failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
