On Wednesday, 12 October 2016, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Panevėžys, on Beržų street, at the junction with Ramygalos street, an Opel Astra hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 31-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Opel (1 year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. She fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
