On Monday, 24 April 2017, at night at 1:41, in Šakių district municipality, Pavilkijo village, on Nemuno street near No. 14, a Volkswagen Golf hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.48‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene.
