On Friday, 19 May 2017, in the afternoon at 16:50, in Vilniaus district municipality, Raudondvario village, on Raudondvario 1-oji street, at the junction with Liucionių g., an Opel Meriva hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 59-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Opel (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
