On Wednesday, 24 May 2017, at night at around 2:00, in Alytus, on Kernavės street near No. 8, in a yard, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Mazda Xedos 6, a Volkswagen Passat, an Opel, a Volkswagen Passat and a Toyota Corolla Verso. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Mazda, who exceeded the speed set by traffic rules or road signs, failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.47‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
