On Thursday, 1 June 2017, in the afternoon at 13:51, in Rokiškio district municipality, on the Juodupė–Aleknos–Aknystė regional road (kilometre 4.10), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Renault Megane Scenic, a Brenderup registered in Latvia and a Volkswagen Multivan registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to keep a safe distance and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.54‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
