On Saturday, 10 June 2017, at night at 4:54, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Eigirdžiai–Mitkaičiai–Pievėnai–Tirkšliai regional road (kilometre 25.40), a Volkswagen Vento rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
