On Sunday, 11 June 2017, at night at 23:38, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžio aplinkkelis main road (kilometre 11.20), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz A170 and a Nissan X-Trail. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.11‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
