On Saturday, 17 June 2017, at night at 0:50, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 119), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Ford Mondeo registered in Denmark and a Citroen Relay. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Ford (12 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
