On Wednesday, 9 August 2017, in the morning at 8:49, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Šaukėnai–Vaiguva–Kalniškiai regional road (kilometre 11.72), an Audi 80 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.08‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
