On Sunday, 13 August 2017, in the morning at 10:40, in Panevėžio district municipality, Butėnų farmstead, on the Velžys–Jotainiai–Pagiriai–Šėta regional road (kilometre 1.50), a Mazda Premacy ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Mazda, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
