On Monday, 4 September 2017, in the afternoon at 15:29, in Lazdijų district municipality, on the Leipalingis–Lazdijai–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 44.30), an Audi 80 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 40 km/h.
