On Saturday, 16 September 2017, at night at 1:30, in Rietavo municipality, on Plungės street, at the junction with Aušros al., a Renault Laguna ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.42‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
