On Friday, 15 September 2017, in the afternoon at 14:13, in Šalčininkų district municipality, Švenčiaus village, on the Šalčininkai–Butrimonys–Eišiškės national road (kilometre 4.80), a Volvo V40 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Volvo (18 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.41‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
