On Saturday, 7 October 2017, in the evening at 17:20, in Šilalės district municipality, Brokštėnų village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 231.50), a BMW X3 3.0D hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the BMW (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
