On Sunday, 15 October 2017, in the afternoon at 14:29, in Šilalės district municipality, on Rytinio Kelio street, at the junction with Struikų street, a Nissan X-Trail hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Nissan, who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (2.31‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
