On Thursday, 26 October 2017, at night at 0:20, in Anykščių district municipality, Kurklės farmstead, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 96.27), a Volkswagen Golf rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
