On Wednesday, 22 November 2017, in the afternoon at 13:09, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius-Švenčionys-Zarasai national road (kilometre 40.25), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira and a Skoda Octavia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to give way when changing direction. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
