On Tuesday, 16 January 2018, in the afternoon at 15:12, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Kupiškis–Utena national road (kilometre 36.10), a Volvo V70 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Volvo (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
