On Wednesday, 21 February 2018, in the evening at 18:30, in Kaunas, on Palemono street, at the junction with Ateities pl., a collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a car. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Audi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.50‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
