On Thursday, 1 March 2018, in the morning at 6:28, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 42.05), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (7 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was under the influence of psychoactive substances and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
