On Friday, 30 March 2018, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Zarasų district municipality, Salako town, on the Zarasai–Kopūstinė–Turniškė–Salakas regional road (kilometre 2), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved an Opel Astra-G-Caravan and a Scania. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Opel (30 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
