On Monday, 2 April 2018, at night at around 1:00, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Šaukėnai–Vaiguva–Kalniškiai regional road (kilometre 11.29), a Volvo XC60 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Volvo (24 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
