On Saturday, 14 July 2018, in the evening at 18:46, in Tauragės district municipality, Balskų village, on Plynosios street, a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.89‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
