On Sunday, 22 July 2018, at night at around 4:00, in Druskininkų municipality, on Bokšto street near No. 1, a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.87‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
