On Sunday, 12 August 2018, in the afternoon at 13:40, in Druskininkų municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 119), a head-on collision occurred. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Hyundai (18 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
