On Saturday, 6 October 2018, at night at 23:15, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 12.07), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk, had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
