On Sunday, 7 October 2018, in the afternoon at 16:26, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 41.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Sharan and a Volkswagen Jetta. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Sharan, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.28‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence.
