On Friday, 14 December 2018, in the evening at 17:07, in Klaipėda, on Šilutės pl. near No. 48, a Nissan Juke hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 21-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 20-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 68-year-old driver of the Nissan (39 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
