On Monday, 17 December 2018, in the evening at 17:05, in Ukmergės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 82.60), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Iveco AS440S43 and a Volvo V70. Two people were injured — the 26-year-old driver of the Volvo (hospitalized) and a 5-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Iveco (29 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
