On Wednesday, 26 December 2018, in the afternoon at 13:25, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 10), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Audi 100 Avant and a BMW 320 registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Audi, who violated overtaking rules. He was drunk (2.68‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
