On Thursday, 17 January 2019, in the afternoon at 16:02, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Salantai–Grūšlaukė–Benaičiai regional road (kilometre 4.86), a Peugeot 406 ran off the road. Two people were injured — the 56-year-old driver of the Peugeot (hospitalized) and a 51-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Peugeot (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He refused a sobriety test. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
