On Saturday, 19 January 2019, in the evening at 19:01, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 252), a Peugeot Boxer ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Peugeot (36 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
