On Saturday, 16 February 2019, in the evening at 17:22, in Molėtų district municipality, on the Giedraičiai–Bekupė–Želva regional road (kilometre 7), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi 100 and a Ford Fiesta. One person was injured — the 68-year-old driver of the Ford (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Audi, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.30‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence.
