On Friday, 22 February 2019, in the morning at 10:10, in Šiauliai, on Gardino street, at the junction with Aido street, a Toyota RAV4 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 80-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 74-year-old driver of the Toyota (55 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
