On Wednesday, 12 June 2019, in the evening at 17:30, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Nemakščiai–Kražiai–Junkilai regional road (kilometre 26), a Volkswagen Caddy hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.07‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
