On Saturday, 22 June 2019, in the afternoon at 15:37, in Kaunas, on Kovo 11-osios street near No. 22, a Mercedes-Benz C220 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 78-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 80-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (60 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
