On Saturday, 3 August 2019, in the evening at 22:41, in Kelmės district municipality, Šaltenių village, on the Verpena–Šalteniai–Ramučiai regional road (kilometre 7.31), a Peugeot 406 ran off the road. Two people were injured — a 26-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient) and a 38-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
