On Saturday, 28 September 2019, in the evening at 18:37, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 258), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Yaris and a Volvo XC70. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the Toyota (33 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (0.93‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
