On Monday, 2 December 2019, in the morning at around 10:00, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 253.10), a DAF FT XF105.460 registered in Latvia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the DAF (18 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
