On Monday, 30 December 2019, in the evening at 19:30, in Šilalės district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 219), a vehicle hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who violated cargo-transport rules. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
