On Wednesday, 19 February 2020, in the evening at around 19:00, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Verdainė–Pašyšiai regional road (kilometre 1.99), a Renault Megane Scenic hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 47-year-old pedestrian, who was walking on the carriageway where prohibited. He was drunk (1.07‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
