On Tuesday, 25 February 2020, in the afternoon at 15:22, in Varėnos district municipality, Tolkūnų village, on the Varėna–Nedzingė–Merkinė regional road (kilometre 12), an Audi A4 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.26‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
