On Saturday, 7 March 2020, in the evening at 22:05, in Varėnos district municipality, Šunupio village, on Šunupis street near No. 13, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Subaru Impreza and a Ford Mondeo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Subaru, who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (1.12‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
