On Monday, 23 March 2020, in the evening at 21:32, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 292.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 528 and a Volkswagen. Three people were injured — a 5-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient), the 34-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 7-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
