On Saturday, 16 May 2020, in the morning at around 5:00, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Paširvintys–Juodiškiai–Giedraičiai regional road (kilometre 12.65), a Volvo V40 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Volvo, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.29‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
