On Monday, 18 May 2020, at night at 3:42, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 257.10), a Volvo V40 registered in Ukraine ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Volvo (24 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
